A woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting an on-duty traffic police official near ESI Junction in Indiranagar here on Friday. The woman, who may have a history of mental health issues, overreacted after she was stopped by a policeman for violating a traffic rule, Indiranagar police said.

The matter came to light after videos of the assault in full public view went viral on social media. In the video, the woman, Sonam, was seen trying to stomp on the feet of a traffic police officer and pulling off his body-worn camera. She was also heard abusing and shouting that she would ensure that all police officers present at the scene would lose their jobs. Several police officers were seen trying to calm her down. The video was recorded by a passer-by who later shared it on social media.—Salar News
