Rs 21 cr worth drugs seized in a major post office bust

Bengaluru Police Commissioner, P Dayananda said that the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru Customs officials, and India Post seized drugs worth Rs 21.17 crore, on Thursday. 
The prohibited substances were smuggled from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, Thailand, and the Netherlands. 

The operation, which utilised sniffer dogs from the City Police, resulted in the inspection of 3,500 undelivered parcels flagged as suspicious. Out of these, 606 packages were found to contain illegal narcotics such as hydro Ganja, LSD, MDMA crystals, ecstasy tablets, heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, charas, and Ganja oil, with a market value of Rs 21.17 crore.

The canine squad played a key role in identifying the contraband, enabling the authorities to intercept the parcels before they could be delivered. Authorities have stated that further investigations are still underway.  
Meanwhile, VV Puram police has arrested an interstate individual involved in sending hoax bomb threat emails to schools and colleges across the City. The investigation led to the recovery of a laptop and mobile phone used in the crime, pertaining to 10 similar cases reported in various police stations over a period of 2 months. 

 ‘4 held for creating fake driver IDs on the porter app’ 

Using these fake IDs, they manipulated the system by selecting fake drivers and placing fake orders. The company paid the fake drivers, and after the orders were cancelled, refunds were issued to the fake customers. Over the past 8 months, they defrauded the company of Rs 90 lakh. The CEN police station, South Division apprehended these 4 individuals and cracked yet another important case arresting 6 people, involved in an investment fraud case, where they lured the public with promises of doubling their money.
