Manekshaw Parade Ground gears up for I-Day celebrations
The ceremony will start at 9am with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hoisting the national flag and presiding over the proceedings

Around 1,150
security personnel from 35 contingents will take part in the parade as part of
78th Independence Day celebrations at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground on
Cubbon Road here on Thursday.
The ceremony will
start at 9am with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hoisting the national flag and
presiding over the proceedings.
The parades are
carried out by Karnataka State Reserve Police, Central Reserve Police Force,
Border Security Force, City Armed Reserve, Goa Police, Karnataka State
Industrial Security Force, Traffic Police, Women Police, Home Guards, Tropical
Wardens, Fire Brigade, Dog Squad and Band.
A stage has been
constructed and a flag pole has been erected for the 15 August celebrations, a
statement by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike said. After the hoisting the
flag, the Chief Minister will inspect the parade in an open jeep, address the
audience, and oversee the national anthem.
The celebrations
will also feature cultural programmes performed by school children, military
regiments, local artists, including a para motor and motorcycle show.
Besides, 64
families who have donated organs will be honoured with certificates by the
Chief Minister during the celebrations.
Bengaluru Traffic
Police have made traffic arrangements around the parade ground. Public parking
is limited on Central Street, Cubbon Road and MG Road, with residents advised
to use public transport to avoid congestion. Media personnel should use Gate No
04 for access to the media box, while the public with green passes is directed
to use Gate No 05. For security reasons, attendees are requested to arrive by
8.30am. For any assistance, citizens are encouraged to call 112. —Salar News
