BENGALURU, 7 AUG 

 

A pregnant woman and her unborn child died after the motorbike they were riding in was knocked off by a speeding truck on National Highway 4 near Edehalli in Nelamangala taluk, Bengaluru Rural district, on Wednesday morning. 

 

Sinchana, 30, was pillion riding the motorcycle driven by her husband, Manjunath. A speeding tipper truck hit them and Sinchana was thrown off the bike. Due to the impact of the accident, the child came out of the womb, but it succumbed to injuries. 

 

The couple was en route to their village after a visit to Sivagange Harake Sri Ganapati Temple in Dobbaspet to offer prayers for a safe delivery, as the delivery date was scheduled on 17 August. 

 

The tipper driver fled the scene after the accident and Nelamangala Traffic Police have registered a case.

 

According to local authorities, more than 90 accidents have occurred in Nelamangala in the past six months, resulting in more than 125 fatalities. –Salar News
