Bengaluru, 2 July

A 24-year-old woman, Kriti Kumari, hailing from Bihar, was murdered at her paying guest accommodation in Koramangala on Tuesday night.

The victim, employed with a City-based private firm, had moved into Bhargavi Staying Homes in VR Layout just two days before the incident.

According to the Koramangala police, the assailant, armed with a knife, managed to bypass the PG’s biometric security system around 11pm and gained access to Kumari’s third-floor room. The attacker inflicted multiple stab wounds on the victim and slit her throat before fleeing the scene.

Inspector DM Nataraj of the Koramangala police station told SalarNews that they suspected the accused was known to the victim. “The suspect's movements were captured on CCTV footage and we are observing it. We have formed a special team to apprehend the culprit,” he added.

Nataraj indicated that the PG management’s security protocols are also under investigation. “We are examining all angles, including the possibility of negligence on the part of the PG,” he stated.

The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and the police are in the process of contacting her family in Bihar. A comprehensive analysis of Kumari’s mobile phone data is underway to gather crucial clues about her final contacts and potential motives for the murder.
