 Bengaluru, 10 July

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has announced the formation of a special committee tasked with preparing a preliminary report for the upcoming Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections.

According to a press release issued by KPCC, the committee members are directed to engage with MLAs, MPs, District Commissioners, and other relevant stakeholders’ constituency-wise basis to gather data within a month as these will be crucial to plan the strategy ahead of the polls.

Their objective is to compile detailed information on each ward. This decision by KPCC comes in the backdrop of recent discussions with the State government regarding the future of BBMP elections.

It is reported that the government is contemplating legislation to split BBMP into five City corporations.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had raised a green flag for the decision and the government is actively preparing to present its case before Karnataka High Court, where the case is still pending.

In 2018, Congress-JDS alliance government decided not to split BBMP into five ward committees.  Salar News
