Bengaluru, 5 June

Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra launched a sharp attack on the new Congress government in the state on Friday after Minister Ramalinga Reddy's resignation over the portfolio, alleging that Congress infighting would derail governance.

He said the resignation of the senior Congress leader within hours of portfolio allocation exposed the deep divisions in the admin.

"Shivakumar may be the chief minister, but this is Siddaramaiah's Cabinet. The first wicket has fallen," he said.

Vijayendra alleged that the tussle within the Congress would come at the cost of governance.

Claiming that people were disillusioned with the Congress government, he said, "The people want this anti-poor Congress government to go. They want a BJP government."

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka also took a swipe at the Congress on social media, claiming factionalism had become a feature of the Congress in Karnataka.

In a post on 'X', he said, "Kannadigas may one day wake up to a morning without the sun, but not a day without Congress infighting."

Mocking the Congress leadership's repeated interventions in the state, he said Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala should rent an office in Bengaluru instead of repeatedly travelling to the state to resolve disputes.

After the sudden resignation of Ramalinga Reddy, political temperatures soared in Mysuru as MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and other opposition leaders launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Mysore.

Yaduveer said that development has come to a standstill in the state due to power tussle in the Congress government.
