MANGALURU, 26 OCT

A police case has been lodged against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and the organisers of a Deepotsava event held in Uppalige, after a complaint was filed by a resident of Puttur taluk.

According to a statement from Puttur Rural Police on Sunday, the complaint claimed that Bhat’s speech, broadcast on the ‘Kahale News’ YouTube channel, incited “religious hatred, insulted women’s dignity, and threatened public peace.”

The event took place on 20 October. It further alleged that Bhat made derogatory remarks about both Hindu and Muslim communities and mentioned voter numbers, allegedly fostering religious discord.

The case, registered on 25 October under crime number 118/2025, invokes pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to promoting enmity, insulting religious beliefs, and disturbing public tranquillity.
