Mysuru, 19 Oct
Congress activists in Karnataka, led by former
Krishnaraja MLA MK Somashekar, held a signature campaign across various parts
of the Krishnaraja Assembly segment on Sunday, alleging large-scale “vote
theft” in past elections.
This was the second day of the campaign in Mysuru, part
of a nationwide initiative launched by the All India Congress Committee (AICC)
to highlight alleged electoral malpractice. The collected signatures will be
compiled into a petition and sent to President Droupadi Murmu via the District
Congress Office.
During the campaign, Congress workers raised slogans
against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah,
accusing them of benefiting from electoral fraud.
Addressing party workers, Somashekar alleged that the BJP-led Union Government came to power through “vote theft” during previous parliamentary elections. He also criticised the Election Commission of India, accusing it of functioning like a BJP affiliate and ignoring evidence of electoral manipulation presented by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Somashekar questioned the Commission’s silence, despite what he claimed was “clear proof” submitted by the Congress.
