Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday firmly
dismissed speculation about a possible leadership change in the state later
this year, calling the so-called "November Kranti" a “delusion.”
Speaking from Koppal, he reaffirmed his commitment to
completing a full five-year term, noting that he has already served 2.5 years
in his second term and will remain in office for the remainder.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara supported
Siddaramaiah’s statement, stressing that there is no confusion within the
government or the ruling Congress. “The chief minister himself has said he will
be in the post for five years.
There ends the matter,” Parameshwara told reporters, adding
that media focus on internal opinions had unnecessarily amplified speculation.
The debate over a rotational chief minister formula involving Deputy CM DK
Shivakumar has persisted since the May 2023 Assembly polls, but no official
confirmation has been provided by the party.
Meanwhile, Parameshwara addressed the ongoing Dharmasthala
case, in which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing allegations of
multiple murders, rapes, and burials in the temple town.
He said the SIT has been asked to complete the investigation
promptly, although no strict deadline has been set due to ongoing forensic
analyses, including DNA and chemical tests. Recent operations recovered
skeletal remains at multiple locations along the Netravathi River and
Banglegudde forest, part of the ongoing probe into the complainant’s claims.
The minister emphasised that all procedures are being
followed meticulously and the final report would be submitted as soon as the
forensic results are verified.
