Spokesperson of Dharmasthala, K Parshwanath Jain, welcomed the decision of the State Government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in the matter related to the alleged mass burial of human bodies in the region.
Jain stated that a case was recently registered at the Dharmasthala police station, which claimed "several dead bodies were buried" in the region, which "sparked widespread debate, speculations, and confusion at the national level in recent days."
Jain stated that truth and belief are the strongest foundation for society's ethics and faith. He expressed hope and demanded that the SIT bring out the truth of the matter.
The State issued an order to constitute an SIT to probe the matter related to alleged incidents that occurred in Dharmasthala town.
The development follows a letter from the Karnataka State Women's Commission requesting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah form an SIT under the leadership of senior police officials to investigate the matter.
Additionally, the Opposition Leader R Ashoka also welcomed the State’s decision for the SIT probe.
However, he stated that spreading misinformation about the Shri Manjunatha Swamy temple in Dharmasthala is wrong.
Speaking at a press conference, he demanded an impartial investigation into the matter and emphasised that the probe should not aim to falsely implicate anyone.
Meanwhile, the former chief minister BS Yediyurappa stated that Dharmasthala has done nothing wrong.
“There is no wrongdoing in Dharmasthala. If a special investigation team wants to investigate, let it be done. There is no problem with that,” he said.
