Chikkamagaluru on high alert amidst forecast of heavy rain

Chikkamagaluru, 19 July

In light of predictions from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicating heavy rainfall over the next five days, the district administration of Chikkamagaluru in the State has issued a high alert, urging residents to remain indoors and advising tourists to delay their visit until 23 July. An orange alert has been declared for the duration of this period.

The district has been experiencing persistent rain for the past week, and the IMD has forecast that this wet weather will persist until 23 July. In response to this warning, local authorities have advised tourists to refrain from trekking in the Western Ghats during weekends and on the alerted days, as well as to avoid visiting water storage sites.

Additionally, all educational institutions up to grade 12 in Mangaluru, Bantwal, and Ullal taluks have been declared closed for the day.
