Miscreants have allegedly carried out black magic to prevent a farmer from getting a good price for his crops at Nakkanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district.

Prabhakar, the farmer, had cultivated black grapes in about 2.10 acres of his vineyard at Nakkanahalli and expected to a good profit by selling his produce.

Though he had been cultivating dry crops for the past few years, he decided to grow grapes this year, incurring an expenditure of nearly Rs 20 lakhs in the process. He had borrowed about Rs 15 lakhs from a bank and another few lakhs from private financiers.

Having a good yield of fifteen to twenty tons of crops, Prabhakar expected to earn around Rs 8 to 10 lakhs through their sale.

A couple of buyers had reportedly visited his farm a few days back. However, Prabhakar was in for a rude shock as he spotted some items used in black magic in his yard.

Prabhakar noticed vermilion, eggs, flowers and black thread at many places in his yard and also near the pond in his field.  He claimed that a couple of grape vines had also dried up within the next few days. Even his buyers were reluctant to come to purchase his crops.

Prabhakar expressed doubts about his distant cousin, Muni Reddy’s hand in these activities. He said he also took corrective reassures to remove the dried grape vines and the various suspicious objects found scattered at various places on his farm. He is also on the lookout for prospective buyers.

Meanwhile, the farmer lodged a complaint with the Nandhi Giridhama Hills Police Station, seeking action against the miscreants.

A case was registered and an investigation was underway, said a police official.
