BENGALURU 13 APRIL

The Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association (FKSLOAA) confirmed a Statewide lorry strike on 15 April.
The association is pressing for five demands: rollback of the 2.73 per cent sales tax hike on diesel, withdrawal of Bengaluru’s no-entry rule for goods carriers, reduction in Fitness Certificate fees, safety for drivers, and relief from rising vehicle maintenance costs.
Speaking to reporters in City, association president Shanmugappa said, "Goods vehicles will stop operations from 12am on 15 April. We will not call off the protest until our demands are met."
The strike is likely to affect the supply of construction materials like M-sand and jelly, and groceries across the state. Around 6,000 lorries, including those from neighbouring states, will remain off the roads.
Movement of milk and emergency medical services will not be disrupted. Taxi operators have extended their support to the protest.
