The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has ramped up
its probe into the high-profile honeytrap case, seizing video clips allegedly
used to blackmail Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna.
On Friday, Rajendra Rajanna, MLC and son of KN Rajanna,
lodged a complaint with the Tumakuru District Police, claiming an attempt was
made on his life. He has also submitted an audio recording as evidence.
As part of their investigation, CID officers visited
minister Rajanna’s residence in Bengaluru on Thursday and questioned his staff.
They also seized a ledger book from his office to examine visitor records on
the dates linked to the honeytrap allegations.
Sources said screen-recorded video clips were sent to
Rajanna to blackmail him. Investigators have retrieved call detail records
(CDRs) of numbers from which he was contacted around that time and are tracking
suspicious callers.
It has also emerged that several Youth Congress members had
frequent phone interactions with Rajanna during the period in question. As a
result, police may soon question party members in both Bengaluru and Tumakuru.
With Rajendra Rajanna’s complaint now on record, police are likely to register a case in Tumakuru and initiate an investigation into the alleged murder attempt.
