MYSURU, 29 FEB

In a distressing series of fraud cases, two women, including a retired government employee, have been scammed out of a total of ₹87 lakh through online schemes over the past week in Mysuru.

According to police reports, two individuals lost ₹77 lakh after investing in a fictitious online trading platform that promised substantial returns. One of the victims, a software engineer from Bogadi, was enticed to join a Telegram group called High Earning Hub. Unsuspecting, she was then lured into a WhatsApp group named "Navigation of the Cutting Edge of Stock," where cybercriminals encouraged her to invest in the fraudulent trading platform. She subsequently transferred ₹57.81 lakh in several transactions to accounts specified by the scammers.

In a separate incident, a retired government employee from Telecom Layout was deceived out of ₹21.60 lakh after joining a WhatsApp group titled "Way to Wealth." All three cases have been reported to the Cyber Crime Cell in Mysuru, which is actively pursuing investigations into these alarming scams. Police urge potential investors to remain vigilant and sceptical of too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities.
