Mysuru to get additional 40 MLD water soon

Mahadevappa said that both MCC and Mysuru Urban Development Authority have decided to upgrade the facility to ensure uninterrupted water supply to south-western parts of Mysuru city by drawing more water from Kabini river.

Mysuru will get an additional 40 million litres per day (MLD) water later this year, as Kabini Drinking Water project’s II Stage is 90 per cent completed.

A team of officials, led by Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa and accompanied by Chamundeshwari MLA GT Devegowda, KEA chairman Ayub Khan, Mysuru DC Lakshmikanth Reddy, former MUDA commissioner Rajiv and  MCC Commissioner Sheik Tanvir Asif on Sunday visited the project site at Bidaragodu in Nanjangud taluk and reviewed the works.  

Mahadevappa said that both MCC and Mysuru Urban Development Authority have decided to upgrade the facility to ensure uninterrupted water supply to south-western parts of Mysuru city by drawing more water from Kabini river.

Fom Bidaragodu Jackwell, water will be pumped to Kembalu Pumping Station, where it will be chlorinated and pumped to Udbur unit and then supplied to Mysuru city. The entire upgradation project was taken up at a cost of Rs 150 crore.

The project will help supply 180 MLD of water to both MUDA-formed layouts and MUDA-approved private layouts, including RT Nagar, JP Nagar, University Layout, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Nagar and residential layouts along the ring road.

The team also visited Bidaragudu Jackwell point, which has 180 MLD water pumping capacity. Out of this, only 60 MLD is being supplied to parts of Mysuru city and MUDA has planned to utilise the remaining 120 MLD for feeding water to MUDA and private layouts, as suggested by the urban development minister.
