Yaduveer conducts his 10th private durbar in Mysuru Palace

The private durbar, which began on Thursday, will be held for all nine days during Navaratri festival till 12 October with the conclusion of Vijayadashami procession day

MYSURU, 3 OCT  

 

Scion of Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar conducted his 10th private durbar ritual at the palace on Thursday with the commencement of Navarathri celebrations.

 

The private durbar, which began on Thursday, will be held for all nine days during Navaratri festival till 12 October with the conclusion of Vijayadashami procession day. The private durbar tradition has a history of 415 years.  

 

Yaduveer, adorned in opulent attire, ascended the gem-studded golden throne on the auspicious time between 11.35am and 12.05pm and symbolically held the private durbar in the Durbar Hall with darbaris on either side rendering ‘Bahu Parak’ and priests chanting vedic hymns. The durbar concluded with the playing of the state anthem of the erstwhile princely state of Mysuru, Kayo Shri Gowri Karuna Lahari.

 

Earlier, the rituals associated with the durbar began at 5.45am with the oil bath to Wadiyar followed by Kankanadharana, fixing lions’ heads to Golden Throne, bringing the holy water from the well in front of Kodi Someshwara Swamy Temple near Jayamarthanda gate of the palace in the presence of elephant, horses, priests and his family members.

 

The rituals were performed in the presence of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, his wife Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar, and son Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar, other royal family members, priests and others. –Salar News
