BENGALURU, 6 AUG
A Mysuru resident has sent a complaint to Governor against Chief Minister
Siddaramaiah alleging his involvement in a land allotment scam at Mysore Urban
Development Authority (MUDA). This follows a previous complaint sent to
Governor Thawarchand Gehlot by TJ Abraham seeking permission to pursue criminal
charges against Siddaramaiah.
The latest complaint was filed by Snehamai Krishna, who attached a set of
documents on the land allotment with it. Krishna alleged that Siddaramaiah
abused his authority to denotify 1.39 acres in Uttanahalli village of Varuna,
Mysuru taluk. This land, originally acquired in 1972 to benefit landless and
disadvantaged individuals, had remained unused due to a lack of infrastructure.
According to Krishna’s complaint, Siddaramaiah requested then district
collector to de-notify the land for an individual named Marappa, who had no
actual claim to the property for 30 years. The complaint alleged that the
district administration subsequently created fraudulent documents to transfer
the land to Marappa after a 14-month delay. The original beneficiaries, who had
not received their land, raised their concerns in 2011.
Krishna claimed that Siddaramaiah’s involvement in this de-notification was
illegal and sought the Governor's authorisation to file a formal case against
the Chief Minister.
The complaint has sparked a political controversy. Revenue Minister Krishna
Byre Gowda criticised the Governor's handling of such matters, pointing out the
difference in how similar complaints against other political figures, including
Janardhana Reddy and Shashikala Annasaheb Jolle, were managed. —Salar News
