Mysuru, 15 July

Karnataka’s Minister for Urban Development and Mysuru district in-charge minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Wednesday clarified that the State government has not yet finalised whether it would hold Kambala during Dasara festivities in Mysuru.

Speaking to reporters after reviewing preparations for Ashada Friday celebrations atop Chamundi Hills, he said that although the government announced its decision to hold the traditional Dakshina Kannada buffalo race during Dasara festivities in Mysuru, the State government has not yet finalised the event.

“As there is also stiff opposition from members of various organisations, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will take a clear cut decision regarding the event,” he said.

The minister also said that district administration has made all preparations for smooth conduct of Ashada Friday celebrations atop Chamundi Hills that will begin from 17 July.

Special arrangements have been made for entry of VIPs between 5.30 am to 9.30 am from Friday to Sunday.
