The alleged financial irregularities in a State-run corporation created uproar in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah sought to rubbish allegations against him and his government stating that there has not been a single "black spot" in his political career spanning four decades.

Two days of uproar in the monsoon legislative Assembly session by Opposition over the alleged Maharishi Valmiki Corporation scam, the Opposition members interrupted Chief Minister’s speech midway and staged a protest at the well of the House, accusing Congress government of spreading lies to cover up the scam.

Siddaramaiah dismissed the Opposition's allegations as baseless, claiming they were presenting the newspaper clippings to the house. He said Opposition has taken seven hours to lay out the flaws of this government and I am here confronting those allegations without any fear and as a Chief Minister I will punish whoever has done wrong and injustice. "No matter how much you BJP speak about Dalits, you cannot be seen as pro-Dalits or SC/STs and BJP tactic is against social justice."

BJP legislators strongly objected to Chief Minister's statements, with senior party MLA CN Ashwath Narayan accusing the Congress government and Siddaramaiah of being against social justice. Several BJP MLAs rose to defend their party and leader, leading to uproarious scenes in the House.

Correcting R Ashoka’s allegation on the scam the Chief Minister said, “The death note written by the Chandrashekar only accused the union bank and valmiki corporation officials are the reason for the death and he did not name any ministry.”

With this statement the opposition walked out from the assembly and the session was adjourned for Friday by the speaker for the chief minister’s response. -Salar News
