Bengaluru, 9 July

The Green Line of the Namma Metro in Bengaluru was delayed by 15 minutes around 8.25 am on 9 July after signalling problems disrupted train operations.

The disruptions slowed the schedule across the Green Line, which connects Madavara to Silk Institute. Trains moved at reduced speeds, leading to crowded platforms and delayed passengers.

Several commuters took to social media to express their frustration over the disruption.

A commuter from Konanakunte said that there was little communication from the metro staff about the reason for the delay or how long it would last.

A Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official said, “One train encountered a signalling problem around 8.25 am. As a precaution, passengers were deboarded and shifted to another train so that services could continue. During this process, there was a delay of about 15 minutes. Subsequent trains were operated at reduced speed, which affected the overall schedule. Normal operations were restored within about 20 minutes,” the official said.

Responding to the concerns, BMRCL said, "We regret the inconvenience caused and request commuters to kindly plan their journey accordingly."

This disruption marks the third technical issue faced by BMRCL in recent weeks, following two significant incidents on the Purple Line in June.
