Karnataka ranks second in PMFBY performance
PMFBY is a central flagship scheme that provides farmers with timely compensation for crop losses caused by natural calamities, pests and diseases.

The Union
Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday awarded the State government a Certificate of
Commendation for securing the second rank among 'large states' for its overall
performance in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
According
to Karnataka government authorities, out of 27,04,166 farmers who were enrolled
under the scheme, 11,85,642 farmers have claimed crop insurance compensation
amounting to Rs 2,094 crore.
The
certificate most notably recognises the State’s effective execution of the central
crop insurance scheme during the Kharif 2024 and Rabi 2024-25 seasons.
The
Chief Minister's Office shared the certificate issued by Muktanand Agrawal,
Chief Executive Officer of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, dated 14
January.
The
ministry recognised the efforts of the State Government and its team of
officers for the effective implementation of the crop insurance scheme, which
aims to provide financial protection to farmers against crop losses.
The PMFBY is a Central flagship scheme designed to support farmers by ensuring timely compensation for crop damage due to natural calamities, pests and diseases, while also encouraging the adoption of modern agricultural practices.
