Adding to the list of industry heads attacking the ruling Congress over the condition of roads and infrastructure in the City, RPG Enterprises Chairman Harsh Goenka attacked Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for the latter’s response to Biocon Chief Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.

Mazumdar-Shaw, who has recently been criticising the government, drew Shivakumar’s ire on Sunday. The Bengaluru Minister said she had forgotten her roots.

"Those who have started businesses here have grown. After growing big, they have forgotten from what stage they have grown into what stage now. If you forget the root, you will not get the fruit. Some have forgotten and are criticising by tweeting," he said.

He said that, "They have some personal agenda with them. Why didn't they open their mouth during BJP regime?"

Mazumdar-Shaw, however, dismissed Shivakumar’s statements and said that both she and former Infosys CEO TV Mohandas Pai had criticised the infrastructure under BJP and JD(S) governments.

Replying to Mazumdar-Shaw on X, Goenka wrote, “It’s unfortunate how thin-skinned our politicians are. When Mazumdar-Shaw spoke up about Bengaluru’s crumbling infrastructure, instead of fixing it, they turned it into politics. Now they’ll pressurise her to post “positive tweets.” So typical- attack the critic, not the problem.”
