Bengaluru, 20 Sept

Commuters on Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, particularly along the RV Road–Bommasandra Yellow Line, are increasingly frustrated due to inadequate parking facilities at several stations.

Meanwhile, the Purple Line suffers from staffing shortages, forcing passengers to endure ticket queues of up to 30 minutes.

With ridership on the rise, the situation has deteriorated. Commuters travelling between Challaghatta and Whitefield frequently find themselves waiting nearly half an hour in ticket lines, as many stations are understaffed.

Students, who represent a large portion of metro users, lament that such delays have caused them to miss classes.

“It sometimes takes longer to travel by metro than by BMTC buses,” they said, urging the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to take action.

On the Yellow Line, parking is a significant issue; of the 16 stations, only 11 provide parking, leaving five stations without any options. Commuters have resorted to parking in nearby residential areas, aggravating local residents.

BMRCL officials acknowledged that “tender-related issues” have delayed parking operations but assured that the matter will be resolved soon. Commuters call for urgent improvements to both parking and staffing.
