Residents have become increasingly frustrated with the City’s roads and infrastructure.

Shivakumar had recently launched ‘Gundi Gamana’ app, which allows citizens to complain about damages on roads to authorities. He promised that authorities would then promptly fix the potholes.

The announcement comes after the constitution of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), which replaced the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. The GBA divided the City into five new corporations  - Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru South, Bengaluru East, and Bengaluru West.

Shivakumar also announced that the government approved a revised Rs 147 crore action plan to control air pollution in the City and “make it green under the GBA”.

“The grant was allocated to Bengaluru under the National Clean Air Programme (NCP) in 2023-24. Now it has been revised and allocated for the construction of new parks, air pollution control, development of footpaths and roads,” he said.

The funds would be used for developing new parks & urban green spaces across the City; Scientific closure of Bagalur landfill to cut pollution and fire risk; strengthening EV charging and clean mobility infrastructure, and enhancing footpaths, road upgrades & green cover in major localities, he said.
