The State government's Yettinahole project aims to deliver water to Kolar by 2027, announced Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. He stated that discussions with the Forest Department addressed various project-related issues, including land acquisition and financing for a balanced reservoir in Bairagonda, Lakkenahalli.
Shivakumar pledged
to implement changes based on ministerial suggestions and highlighted his
intent to raise project concerns at the forthcoming cabinet meeting. "Our
government's resolve is to deliver Yettinahole water to Kolar by 2027," he
affirmed, stating that site inspections had been conducted to review the
project's progress.
Last September,
the project’s first stage was inaugurated by Chief Minister Shivakumar during
the Gowri festival. In August, he referred to Yettinahole as an
"ambitious" initiative, revealing that the 252.87km project is
currently 164km complete, with some progress hindered by land acquisition
issues affecting a 25.87 km segment. "Five of the eight barrages are
finished, and about 1,500 cusecs of water have been lifted during experimental
operations," he noted.
The Deputy Chief
Minister emphasised the importance of the Yettinahole project and assured
prioritised efforts despite delays in other initiatives.
