Bengaluru, 17 May
Karnataka's
Minister for Medical Education, Sharan Prakash Patil, announced that there will
be no increase in the fee structure for medical and dental courses in the
upcoming academic year, despite requests from private medical colleges for a 10
to 15 per cent hike.
During a
meeting with representatives of private college managements, Patil affirmed
that last year’s approved 10 per cent increase was deemed sufficient. He made
it clear that the government will not permit a fee rise this year. An agreement
formalising this decision is expected to be signed soon.
The minister's stance emphasises the government's commitment to maintaining the affordability of medical education amid ongoing financial pressures faced by private institutions. This decision aims to support students and ensure access to quality education without imposing additional financial burdens.
