Bengaluru, 14 April

The Nadaprabhu Kempegowda (Majestic) Metro station turned into a bottleneck of human traffic on Monday morning, as reduced train frequency.

Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) sparked commuter outrage—despite the day being a public holiday for Ambedkar Jayanti.
While government offices remained shut, thousands of office-goers and weekend returnees relied on the metro, only to find services crawling. Trains reportedly arrived every eight–10 minutes during peak hours, far below usual three–five minute interval, leading to dangerously overcrowded platforms at Majestic.
"I take the metro daily and left home at my usual time, assuming things would run as normal," said Sourav R, a commuter from Jalahalli. "But there were long queues, and I had to wait 15 minutes for the next train. I ended up late to work."
Social media erupted in criticism. "Majestic will have a stampede one of these days," warned commuter Krishna AG on X.
Even Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan weighed in, slamming BMRCL’s "unacceptable mismanagement" and urging the immediate restoration of normal services.
BMRCL scrambled to contain the damage and arranged additional trains. "We operationalised four additional trains from Baiyappanahalli to Majestic," said Chief PRO Yashwanth Chavan. "Three more trips were run from Garudacharpalya, Majestic and Whitefield."
