BENGALURU, 6 APRIL
The man who allegedly killed his wife and stuffed her
body into a suitcase has confessed to the crime, claiming that he was driven to
the act by her persistent demands to leave the city.
Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar from Maharashtra was arrested by
the Hulimavu police while he was on the run after killing his wife Gauri
Khedekar, 32, on 27 March at a rented house in Doddakammanahalli in the city.
Rakesh told police that Gauri, frustrated over not being
able to find a job, began throwing household utensils to the street and
attacked him with a knife during an argument. Rakesh confessed that in a fit of
rage, he snatched the knife and stabbed her, leading to her death.
Rakesh said Gauri used to fight with him and his parents
over trivial issues and persuaded him to move to Bengaluru. However, Gouri
insisted on moving back to their hometown a few weeks after moving to the city.
He said.
"She constantly insisted that we return to our village," Rakesh told the police. "Even though I pleaded with her to stay back and build a life here, she refused to listen," he said.
