A woman doctor has been booked for allegedly assaulting her
elderly in-laws and issuing life threats after forcibly entering their house in
RHCS Layout. A video of the incident, captured by a bystander, has since gone
viral on social media, drawing widespread outrage.
The accused has been identified as Dr Priyadarshini N, a doctor at Victoria
Government Hospital in Bengaluru. The video shows her physically attacking her
79-year-old father-in-law, Narasimhaiah, and his wife at their residence in
Annapoorneshwari Layout. The elderly couple, both battling serious health
conditions—Narasimhaiah reportedly suffering from heart ailments and his wife
undergoing cancer treatment—were visibly distressed during the ordeal.
According to sources, Dr Priyadarshini married Narasimhaiah’s son, Naveen
Kumar, in 2007, and the couple has children. However, their relationship has
been strained for some time, and their divorce case is currently being heard in
a family court.
The altercation took place around 8.30 pm on 10 March when Dr Priyadarshini
allegedly arrived at her in-laws’ house, accompanied by another woman. She was
seen shouting at the elderly couple, arguing with them, and physically
assaulting them. In a shocking moment captured in the viral footage, she
reportedly pulled the mangalsutra off her mother-in-law’s neck, while her
accomplice was seen kicking Narasimhaiah. Children could be heard crying in the
background as the situation escalated. When Narasimhaiah tried to intervene,
the doctor allegedly struck him on the head and back.
Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the
Annapoorneshwarinagar Police Station under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya
Sanhita (BNS).
“The FIR has already been registered, and a notice has been issued to the
accused. The investigation is proceeding in a strict manner,” a police official
confirmed, refraining from disclosing further details.
Authorities are currently probing the incident, and further action will be
taken based on the findings of the investigation.
