BENGALURU, 11 MARCH
The parents of a minor girl, who was allegedly assaulted
at a madrasa in Hedge Nagar, have filed a fresh complaint claiming that madrasa
authorities are pressuring them to withdraw the case against the accused,
Mohammed Hassan.
Hassan was arrested by the Kothanur police on 20 February
after CCTV footage of the assault went viral, leading to the temporary closure
of the madrasa. Following the incident, members of the Child Welfare Committee
(CWC) inspected the premises.
However, in a recent development, the girl's mother
reported to the Yeshwanthpur police station on Monday that two members of the
madrasa management had been threatening them to retract the case. In response,
the police have registered a non-cognizable report (NCR) and commenced an
inquiry.
"The complainant has alleged that two individuals
from the management have been intimidating her to drop the case. We have taken
note of the complaint and will summon the madrasa authorities for
questioning," stated a police officer from Yeshwantpur station.
Authorities confirmed that action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, with further updates expected as the investigation unfolds.
