BENGALURU, 10 MARCH

A technocrat in Bengaluru has approached the Bengaluru Central Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) police for help after he lost Rs 90 lakh in online gaming. H said that in a desperate attempt to recover his lost money, he continued investing large sums, eventually plunging into heavy debt.
Sunil (name changed) allegedly began playing online games through a platform called Namma Exchange in June 2023 after being introduced to it by a friend.
"Initially, I invested Rs 10,000 and won Rs 40,000, which was credited to my account. Encouraged by the initial profit, I continued to play, hoping to multiply my earnings," he said.
However, as his losses mounted, Sunil invested higher sums in a bid to recover his money.
The techie eventually invested over Rs 90 lakh, including Rs 40 lakh borrowed from financial institutions and Rs 50 lakh from his savings. Despite suffering continuous losses, his friend convinced him that it was common to incur initial losses and that consistent investments would yield higher profits. Believing this, Sunil continued playing and ended up in financial ruin.
On 6 March, after exhausting his savings and being burdened with heavy debt, Sunil filed a complaint with the CEN police.
