BENGALURU, 14 DEC
City Police Commissioner B
Dayananda announced that authorities are considering reinstating the vehicle
towing system to tackle traffic congestion. Speaking at the Masika Sanchara
Samparka Divasa in Kengeri, Dayananda highlighted that improper parking is a
major traffic cause and emphasised that towing could help ensure smoother
traffic flow.
"We are discussing the
reintroduction of the towing system to ensure smooth traffic flow and to
discourage random parking," he said, adding that if the earlier issues
with the towing system are resolved, its implementation would be more
effective.
The towing policy was suspended in February 2022 after public backlash over
harassment by towing staff. Additionally, Joint Commissioner MN Anucheth
suggested that loading and unloading activities should be restricted to
nighttime hours. He stated this would help alleviate morning traffic congestion
and improve overall road conditions during peak hours.
In response to a Nagarabhavi resident’s grievances about traffic congestion and
pothole-ridden roads Dayananda also urged citizens to report road issues via
the BBMP app for quicker resolution.
“Senior officials take these
complaints seriously, and necessary action will be initiated promptly," he
assured. -Salar News
