BENGALURU, 13 DEC
The City Police have issued a
summons to Nikita Singhania, the estranged wife of software engineer Atul
Subhash, as part of their investigation into his recent suicide. Atul, aged 34,
died earlier this week, prompting heightened scrutiny into the circumstances
surrounding his death.
Police Commissioner B Dayananda
announced at a press conference on Friday that two dedicated teams have been
tasked with investigating the case, which was spurred by a complaint lodged by
Atul’s brother, Bikash Kumar. The complaint has led to a registered case of
abetment to suicide against Nikita and her family.
A Bengaluru police team, led by
sub-inspector Sanjeet Kumar, attempted to deliver the summons to Nikita at her
residence in Khowa Mandi, Uttar Pradesh, but found the home locked. They have
since collaborated with local authorities to locate her. Commissioner Dayananda
confirmed that police resources have been mobilised in Uttar Pradesh to ensure
compliance, including the establishment of a police camp for ongoing
monitoring.
The tragic circumstances
surrounding Atul's death have incited nationwide outrage, spurring protests in
Bengaluru led by the Save India Family Foundation, with demonstrators demanding
justice and stricter legal measures to prevent similar incidents. Atul’s
suicide note reportedly alleged harassment by his wife and her family.
While the summons specifically
targets Nikita Singhania, other family members named in the FIR remain
unaddressed. -SALAR NEWS
