BENGALURU, 6 DEC
The police have arrested a man from
Bihar for the alleged murder of his wife, whose decomposed body was discovered
in a drain on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Mohammed Nasim, 39, a painter by
profession, was apprehended in Muzaffarpur following the grisly find on 11
November, within the Sarjapur police jurisdiction.
The couple, Nasim and his second
wife Rumesh Khatun, 22, reportedly argued frequently over trivial matters,
leading to a strained relationship. Suspecting his wife's fidelity and driven
by personal grievances, Nasim decided to take her life. After strangling her,
he bound her hands and feet with wire and disposed of her body in a nearby drain.
The remains were not recovered
until a week later when locals alerted authorities to a foul odour. Following
an investigation, police identified the victim and noted the husband's
disappearance along with his six children. Nasim has four offspring from his
first marriage and two with Khatun.
Utilising technical evidence and
mobile tracking, investigators located Nasim in Muzaffarpur, where he allegedly
remarried shortly before his arrest. He is now in custody facing charges
related to his wife's murder, with the case prompting widespread media attention.
