Around half (44.8 per cent) of the road accidents reported in Bengaluru were due to poor road infrastructure, according to Accident Index 2024 by ACKO, a tech-first insurance provider in India. Other factors contributing to accidents were traffic rule violations (32.1 per cent), drunken driving (19.7 per cent) and stray animals on the roads (14.8 per cent), according to the data shared by ACKO and Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP).

30% increase in road accidents
