Heavy rainfall in Bengaluru on
Monday night led to severe waterlogging in various parts of the city. Bellandur
Traffic Police said that there was slow moving traffic on outer ring road at
Ecospace junction towards Devarabesanahalli to Bellandur junction due to water
logging.
JD(S) posted on X, "Ah, just
another day in Bengaluru where Congress government's blunders has turned
Bengaluru's world-class infrastructure seamlessly into a mini Venice due to the
rains." "Welcome to Brand Bengaluru! Where a physically challenged
woman falling into a pothole during heavy rains is just another day in
paradise. While @siddaramaiah&@DKShivakumarkeep patting themselves on the
back for their visionary governance, the City's crumbling infrastructure is
doing all the talking. BBMP's mastery in turning roads into death traps is
unmatched. Bravo, on setting new standards of neglect and
irresponsibility."
BJP leader CT Ravi said,
"Earlier, Bengaluru used to have thousands of ponds, who looted all, who
earn money through that?... Bengaluru, despite being an international city is
in such a condition, who is responsible?"
Survey of the affected areas is
being conducted: CM
Addressing a press conference here
on Tuesday, Chief Minister Siddaramiah said that the situation of the heavy
rain was being monitored and necessary preparations were underway.
Speaking to the media, Siddaramiah
said, "We have been monitoring the situation. All necessary preparations
are underway. Surveys of the affected areas are also being conducted, and
relief measures will be implemented promptly."
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda
on Tuesday inspected the flood-affected areas in Tata Nagar here.
Lashing out at the criticism that
he had not visited any flood affected areas, Deputy Chief Minister DK
Shivakumar on Tuesday said that flood relief works were more important than his
visit to those areas.
Asked about Opposition leaders’
criticism, he said, “I get publicity if I visit flood affected areas, but the
need of the hour is relief works and not publicity.” “I was also stuck in the
rains on Monday evening. On our way back from Challakere to Bengaluru, we were
stranded in 2 feet water near Nelamangala. Chowdeshwari Nagar has received 150
mm of rains. Many places have received 300 per cent excess rains. Officials
have submitted a report regarding this. We have asked many residents to
evacuate their homes due to flooding. Five SDRF and NDRF teams have been
deployed,” he said. ANI/ Salar News
