Bengaluru, 22 September

Bengaluru Traffic Police registered a total of 718 cases during a special drive conducted on 21 September, targeting private bus drivers for violations such as drunk driving and the use of shrill horns.

A total of 2,057 private buses were inspected, resulting in six cases of drunk driving and 712 cases related to shrill horns. The use of shrill horns or pressure horns contributes significantly to noise pollution.

These horns, often modified or installed illegally, produce sound at 85 decibels which is a higher decibel level than legally permitted, causing disturbances to residents and other motorists on the road.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the traffic police to ensure road safety and reduce noise pollution. Bengaluru Traffic Police have confirmed that similar checks will continue in the coming days to promote compliance and ensure a safer environment for all road users.  -Salar News
