BBMP teams inspect 4.4L houses for dengue testing

BENGALURU, 2 JULY
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has ramped up
efforts to combat the rise in dengue fever cases in the City. In a five-day
span, BBMP teams inspected a 4.4 lakh houses across eight zones.
The inspections targeted mosquito breeding grounds, with a
focus on detecting and eliminating mosquito larvae. BBMP destroyed larvae in
13,613 of the 13.09 lakh containers it tested.
Syed Sirajuddin Madini, the Chief Health Officer, emphasised
the importance of both preventive measures and public awareness. He highlighted
BBMP's efforts to survey homes and disseminate information about dengue fever
in schools and colleges. Over 1,000 BBMP personnel are actively involved in
this awareness campaign.
Zone-wise details reveal extensive coverage: Bommanahalli
(87 teams, 64,000 houses), Dasarahalli (89 teams, 29,000 houses), East (259
teams, 68,000 houses), Mahadevapura (210 teams, 60,000 houses), RR Nagar (105
teams, 48,000 houses), South (339 teams, 90,000 houses), West (280 teams,
67,000 houses), and Yelahanka (104 teams, 19,000 houses).
Madini explained that the surge in reported cases is partly
due to increased testing. BBMP data indicates 1,902 dengue fever cases in
