BENGALURU, 11 JUNE
Six months after the death of
4-year-old Gianna Ann Jito at a preschool building in Bengaluru, there still
has not been a lead in the case. The forensic reports are not yet released due
to which the charge sheet has not been filed, and the case remains unsolved.
When asked about why the forensic report has not been released yet, Hennur
police inspector, Deepak L, told Salar News, “We have sent letters to the FSL
about the forensic reports but the cases in the FSL are done based on a
priority.”
“In which world does it take six
months for a forensic report to be submitted? The delay in submitting the FSL
report and filing the charge sheet smacks suspicion in the case,’’ said a
relative of the victim who did not wish to be named.
On 22 January, Gianna from Manimala
in Kerala fell from the 3rd floor of Delhi Pre-school in Challakere. She
succumbed to her injuries on 25 January. The school authorities at first told
the parents that she had hit her head on a wall and died but later admitted
that she had fallen from the terrace and died. The Hennur police had registered
an FIR following the father’s complaint.
The parents claim the CCTV footage
was doctored. “A person went to the school the day after my daughter died and
fiddled with the visuals. No police official is coming forward to tell us what
the forensic report is all about or where the investigation is headed. Who do
we approach and how do we get justice for our daughter who died for no fault of
hers? Which child would venture onto the terrace of the school and jump to
death?” Gianna’s father Joseph said.
Gianna’s parents Joseph and his
wife Binitta Thomas used to work as software professionals in Bengaluru but
they left the City and moved to their hometown, Kerala, for good after the
tragedy.
Over the past six months, the
distraught father of the child has been running from pillar to post in search
of justice for his child. Joseph said he spoke to Hennur Police Inspector
Deepak L, but whenever he reached out to police he was shunned away with the
excuse that the forensic report had not come yet. —Salar News
