A tumour, weighing 4.5 kg, was removed from the uterus of a
woman in Doddaballapur’s Mother-Child Government Hospital.
Shilpa, a 35-year-old woman, was hospitalised with severe
abdominal pain. During the examinations, it was found that a tumour had encased
her uterus entirely. "Typically,
tumours in the uterus and ovaries are relatively small in size. Had the woman
delayed seeking medical attention by just a few days her life would have been
in danger. She is now in good health. This surgery was challenging, and we are
delighted with the outcome," Dr Archana KL said.
Dr Premalatha, another member of the surgical team, termed
surgery as a complex procedure. "This
case presented significant challenges. Before administering anaesthesia, we
stabilised the patient's blood pressure and breathing to ensure her safety. Due
to the anticipated need for blood transfusion, we had arranged four units of
blood in advance."
The surgical team comprised Dr Girish, and Dr Premalatha,
along with nurses Gayatri, Nandini, Bhavya, and Raju.
