Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 22 Sept
At least 30 civilians, including women and children, were killed in airstrikes by the Pakistani Air Force early on Monday in Matre Dara village, located in the Tirah Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The attacks, which occurred around 2 am, involved the
deployment of eight LS-6 bombs, resulting in a significant loss of life.
Local media reported numerous injuries, though the extent of
these remains unclear. Distressing images from the scene displayed lifeless
bodies, including those of children, amidst the rubble, as rescue teams
searched for survivors, raising fears that the death toll may increase.
Amnesty International recently condemned the recurrent drone
strikes in the region, stating that these operations reflect a troubling
disregard for civilian safety.
"Pakistani authorities have failed to take action to
protect the lives and property of civilians," remarked Isabelle Lassee,
Deputy Regional Director for South Asia at Amnesty International.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed 605 terror incidents from
January to August this year, claiming at least 138 civilian lives and 79 police
personnel.
Terrorist groups, such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen, are reportedly establishing new bases in the province following Operation Sindoor.
