As students and youngsters at large, engaged in protests across Nepal, started setting fire allegedly to government buildings and houses of politicians, Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, wife of former Nepali prime minister Jhalanath Khanal, was killed.
According to reports from the Himalayan country, Chitrakar was allegedly trapped inside her residence in a posh locality in Kathmandu by the mob, which then set fire to the couple’s house.
After sustaining severe burns, the former PM's wife was rushed to the hospital for treatment but she succumbed to her injuries.
The development comes on the second day of the largely students-led protest, which was initially launched over the government’s decision to ban social media.
On the second day, protests continued even after the ban was lifted, prompting back to back resignations of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Ram Chandra Poudel.
Now, the Nepalese Army is likely to take charge of the country.
