Prince Harry wants his British security cover
restored and is taking his case to the Court of Appeal. Harry, whose titles
include Duke of Sussex, lost his government-funded security after he stepped
down from his role as a working member of the royal family in February 2020 and
moved to the US.
The prince arrived at the Court of Appeal in London
on 8 April to challenge a lower court ruling, which upheld the decision. A High
Court judge ruled last year that a government panel's decision to grant Harry
"best-cost" security on a need-based basis was not unlawful,
irrational or unreasonable.
Harry had claimed he and his family were at risk
when travelling to their homeland because of hostile behaviour towards him and
his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, including persistent harassment on
social media and by the news media.
Harry, 40, the younger son of King Charles III, has
broken royal family tradition by taking the government and the tabloid press to
court, where his record has been mixed.
