Kalaburagi BJP leader Rural District President Ashok Bagali, former MLA Rajkumar Patil Telkur have found themselves in a pickle after the latter removed a helmet from a motorcyclist and beat him with it during a protest.
The BJP had organised a protest march on Wednesday afternoon from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Circle towards the Deputy Commissioner's office, condemning the State government's failure to declare drought-affected areas. Police said the protest was held suddenly without obtaining prior permission.
According to the complaint, at around 1 pm, Bagali, Telkur, and other BJP workers were allegedly stopped autos, motorcycles, cars, and buses that were passing on the road. It is further alleged that the protesters verbally abused commuters for entering the protest area and threatened to send them away.
It was then that Telkur removed the helmet from the motorcyclist and repeatedly hit him with it. The helmet, worth around Rs 500, was reportedly damaged, while the biker sustained minor injuries.
