A police sub-inspector has lodged a complaint against Aishwarya, daughter of Tumkur Rural MLA Suresh Gowda of BJP, alleging that she was abused and assaulted by the legislator’s daughter while she was on duty at Arathi Ukkada Temple in Srirangapatna on the occasion of Bhimana Amavasya on 12 August.
The complaint was submitted at the Mandya Women’s Police Station at around 8.15pm by police sub-inspector Savitha.
According to the complaint, at around 4.30pm, Maddur SI Shekhar escorted a man and two women to the temple for darshan. After offering prayers, Aishwarya reportedly approached the gate and demanded entry into the sanctum sanctorum.
Savitha told her that there was a heavy crowd and allowing her to enter immediately could lead to protests from devotees waiting in the queue, and asked her to wait for two minutes.
Enraged, Aishwarya allegedly slapped the SI. However, Aishwarya has accused the SI of abusing her. When contacted, Mandya SP VJ Shobharani said Savitha has given a complaint stating that Aishwarya slapped her.
Aishwarya has also filed a complaint that the police officer abused her.
An FIR was registered at Kyathanahalli Police station in Mandya district and both the cases are being investigated.
