The Karnataka Associated Managements of Schools (KAMS) has withdrawn its earlier advice to close schools on 13 August during the Cauvery bandh, citing potential academic loss and ongoing teacher shortages. While maintaining support for Karnataka’s water rights, KAMS suggested schools use the day to educate students about the Cauvery dispute, water conservation, and constitutional processes, emphasising peaceful activities. Schools are urged to ensure safety and avoid political activities. The bandh, led by activist Vatal Nagaraj, aims to highlight long-standing water-sharing issues with Tamil Nadu, with protests including blocking the Attibele border and potential closures of Bangalore’s Kempegowda Airport.
