Kolar, 24 June
Kolar
police have arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly 28 years in
connection with an attempted murder case registered in 1998.
The
accused, Manjunath, a native of Hoskote, was 18 when he allegedly attacked three people in Kolar before fleeing. Police said the incident stemmed from a
quarrel after he was reportedly mocked for failing his SSLC examinations while
staying at a relative's house.
The case
remained unresolved for years despite repeated efforts to trace him. The
breakthrough came after Kolar SP Kannika Sikriwal reviewed long-pending cases
and ordered a fresh investigation.
PSI
Sangappa Meti and a police team gathered fresh intelligence and found that
Manjunath had returned from Goa and was working as a painter. He was tracked to
Hoskote, where he had reportedly gone to collect wages, and was arrested.
He was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
