Kalaburagi police sub-inspector dies by suicide
According to the police, Basavaraj called some of his friends and informed them about his intention to take his own life.

A police sub-Inspector allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Ganga Nagar, Kalaburagi, on 16 June. Basavaraj Herur, a PSI from the 2014 batch, had been serving in the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) section at the District Police Office in Kalaburagi for the past two years.
He reportedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan using a saree.
According
to police, “Late last night, Basavaraj called some of his friends and informed
them about his intention to take his own life. His friends immediately conveyed
the information to his father. By the time his father broke open the door and
entered the room, Basavaraj had already died by suicide.”
Sources
further stated that Basavaraj’s father is a retired government employee, while
his wife is a senior primary school teacher. The couple has three daughters.
Basavaraj’s
father, Shantappa Herur, said, “We do not know the exact reason behind his
suicide.”
A case has been registered at the Raghavendra Nagar Police Station in Kalaburagi.
